Your key to well-being

It’s generally now well accepted that your state of mind affects your physical health, and that relaxation, positive thinking and maintaining your sense of humour are all vital to your overall well-being. Not always easy if there’s been too much going on for too long, and your mind has taken leave of its senses as a result!

Nervous breakdown territory teaches us that life can be tough if you lose control. We all arrive with a certain genetic background and the rest of our personality is made up from experience.

We can’t choose our kin, but we can do something about the programming that started at birth; the latter influencing our health, relationships, decisions, achievements and quality of life.

Learning to accept we are, where we are, and taking calculated risks can be daunting, but this eliminates our frustration and other negative emotions in the long term. As tough as it may be to opening up to opportunities, this gives us the chance to find stronger relationships, returning the fun and joy in our lives. Those much-missed belly-aching laughs really do provide the cheapest and most effective of medicines!

Make note of the following 10 points on how life can be changed for the better:

  1. Be aware of your choices
  2. Don’t talk yourself down
  3. Check your attitude
  4. Spot opportunities
  5. Take charge
  6. Learn when to let go
  7. Love thy neighbour as thyself
  8. Find time for balance
  9. Kick-start your sense of humour
  10. Enjoy your life, in the NOW
